The unfortunate truth about the visitors to this blog is that almost all of you already have genital warts. It sucks right? Well this article is going to be aimed at the next “generation”… Spread the word, not the disease!
Genital warts is a terrible disease that needs to be stopped. It’s just like HIV/AIDS except less harmful and more of an annoyance. It’s a shame that there should even be treatments for genital warts (not saying they’re a bad thing)… Genital warts should not exist in the first place! We need to educate our peers and spread knowledge about HPV.
You probably heard this back in high school but I feel its at least important to mention one more time — The only 100% protection against genital warts or any STD for that matter is abstinence.
Now that we have that over with, let’s talk about prevention for the rest of the world. The number one preventive measure you can take is practicing safe sex. While it might not seem like much fun, you should avoid unprotected sex as often as possible.
This is especially important for those who frequent bars and night clubs looking for sex. You should already know that picking partners up at night clubs is definitely a little dirtier than picking them up at a church. You need to be prepared for the worst. Don’t let this scare you from having fun though — When used properly, condoms can reduce your risk for contracting genital warts significantly.
The second biggest way to prevent genital warts is to know your partners history… This kind of goes back to the bar/night club issue. If you don’t know your partner, its probably not a great idea to be having sexual contact with them — let alone unprotected contact.
Knowing your partner can drastically reduce your chances of coming in contact with the HPV virus. While it might not be a bulletproof method, it can still provide an additional line of defense against genital warts.
My final comment on preventing genital warts is simple…
If you’re in a relationship, staying faithful is the most effective way to prevent contracting a sexually transmitted disease. Obviously with this method its a two-way street — Your partner must stay faithful as well. But if both of you remain faithful, there is no reason why anyone should be getting genital warts. Especially if you have both previously tested negative for STDs (very important, by the way).
Remember, your first line of defense against genital warts is taking preventive measures… If we can stop the transmission of genital warts, we can stop the treatment of genital warts… Making the world a better place to live.
